Star Loves - Summer at Anglesey Abbey

A wonderful summer awaits the whole family at Anglesey Abbey. With the gardens open late every Wednesday evening throughout July, active adventures during the holidays and live theatre shows, there's something to look forward to for everyone.

Summer evenings in the gardens

Escape the everyday hustle and bask in the beauty of nature, where you can enjoy the longer summer days at Anglesey Abbey every Wednesday in July.

Why not bring a picnic dinner or go for a walk to unwind after work? The gardens will be open until 7:30pm, so come along and make the most of the daylight surrounded by the beautiful gardens at Anglesey Abbey.

Redwoods Restaurant will be serving food and drinks until 7:15pm, and the Shop and Plant Centre will be open until 7pm.

Summer of Play, sponsored by Starling Bank

Get ready for an activity-packed Summer of Play at Anglesey Abbey from 20 July to 1 September. Take a dive into five creative play hubs located around the gardens; get your groove on in the disco den, see how many hurdles you can clear in the games area or curl up in the zen zone and enjoy a nice read from the book nook. Check out the lawn games and water play in the creative corner on East Lawn and don’t miss the toddler’s trundle track – borrow one of the Anglesey Abbey balance bikes or bring your own.

As well as these activities, there will be a story time session every Monday, bubble shows or craft activities every Wednesday and a lunchtime disco each Friday throughout the summer holidays.

Some of the events will be ticketed; see if you can get a hole-in-one on the crazy golf course running from 27 July to 11 August and test your aim with some archery on 20 and 27 August. Head to the Anglesey Abbey website for more event details and to book your tickets.

All of the Summer of Play activities have been specifically designed with families in mind to make each visit special. There’ll be plenty of space to enjoy games and activities, as well as picnic spots, shady rest areas and of course, toilets, cafes and pop-up kiosks offering refreshing food and drink.

Outdoor theatre - Hamlet

Experience the drama of outdoor theatre this summer at Anglesey Abbey. The Lord Chamberlain's Men, now in their 20th year, are coming to perform Hamlet in the gardens on Saturday 17th August.

Bring something comfy to sit on and enjoy one of Shakespeare's masterpieces performed in the open air with Anglesey Abbey's Jacobean-style country house as the backdrop. Dinner options and refreshments will be available throughout the performance.

Whispers of Wonder - magic shows in the house

Mystery awaits on the 13th July at Anglesey Abbey. Join in for a sophisticated evening of magic as the enchanting halls of the Grade I listed building are filled with wonder. You will experience the three Rooms Of Mystery, each sharing a unique flavour of magic, conjuring, and history. Prepare to be astonished by magic presented by two world class magicians and fascinated with hidden stories from a magic historian, all set within the spellbinding ambience of Anglesey Abbey.

You will also enjoy exclusive access to the gardens where they will be opening their front lawn to host a perfect setting for a summer's evening. There will be food and drink available from the onsite food and beverage truck and you are welcome to bring your own blankets and seating too.

Dress code: Black tie and magic are synonymous - but they don't have to be if that's not your style. Dress up in a way that suits you. There are no rules.

Weather: We will be casting a spell to help keep the sun shining upon the grounds of Anglesey Abbey. However, in the event of adverse weather conditions, undercover space will be provided in the form of gazebos and canvas coverage.

All guests are welcome to enter the grounds from 16:15 and stay until 21:00. Each ticket includes a set of 3 mini shows with breaks in between. Reduced access tickets include 2 shows, please see details below. Please arrive by the time stated on your ticket.
