Frontline workers to benefit from thousands of free meals.
Chestnut Group, which runs the Rupert Brooke in Grantchester and the Eight Bells in Saffron Walden, has already dished out thousands of hot meals to organisations and groups of key workers across East Anglia. Now, they're looking to help more people across Cambridgeshire.
The Food4Heroes scheme runs across the UK and was prompted by the heart-rending online appeal by NHS worker Dawn Bilborough who was unable to buy food in the supermarket after working a 48-hour shift. Chestnut Group supports this appeal and is looking to help more local communities. These include hospitals, community groups, care homes, hospices and charities.
They're planning to raise a further £25,000 to fund the cost of 10,000 meals to be delivered around Cambridge and the surrounding area.
