Residents are being encouraged to try out the new slide over the half term holiday.
Deputy Mayor of Cambridge City Council, Cllr Jenny Gawthrope Wood has opened the slide, taking a turn on the slide herself.
She said: “It’s fantastic news that the team has completed the works in time for people to enjoy the slide over half term and I hope people will come and do so. The slide is ideal, great fun for youngsters and I enjoyed it too!”
Cllr Alex Collis, Executive Councillor for Open Spaces, Food Justice and Community Development, said: “Thanks to the team who have made this happen, it’s great to see something fun for people to do together.
“And with children able to swim for £1 at Abbey Leisure Complex before 10am on weekdays during the school holidays – or before 10am on weekends during term time – the addition of the slide makes swimming a really affordable and fun activity for families during half term.”
The new two-track slide at Abbey Leisure ComplexCallum Lewis, Better Abbey Leisure Complex Assistant Manager, said: “Thank you to customers for their patience while we completed the installation. The slide is a wonderful new feature for the pool.
“As it’s multi-track, you can race your friends or family down side-by-side, which should ensure lots of fun for all the family throughout the year.”
