A 20mph zone has been greenlit for the small village of Wicken near Ely.
Cambridgeshire County Council has agreed to introduce 20mph speed limits on most residential roads, with 40mph "buffers" on the edges of the village.
Many locals voiced their support for the plans, raising concerns about the speeds drivers "fly" into the village at - some going 90mph.
However, others wanted the current speed limits to stay, and raised fears about congestion and whether the new speed limits would be adhered to.
