A group of toddlers and their childminders are embarking on a ‘Toddle for Dementia’ walk on Wednesday 2 August from Home Meadow residential home in Toft.
Childminders Natalie Jackson and Amanda Strong have organised the ‘Toddle for Dementia’ walk in a bid to raise awareness of dementia and the Alzheimer’s Society.
The ‘Little Owls’ toddler group meet at the home every week and spend the day with the residents.
The walk will be taking place from 10:30am from Home Meadow and will be taking in a circuit of the village. The organisers are encouraging more children and toddlers from the local area to come along and take part, as well as friends, families and neighbours from the village.
Natalie Jackson, one of the childminders of the Little Owls pre-school children said: “We have been visiting Home Meadow care home for some time now and have met some truly wonderful people living with dementia. We decided to organise a ‘Toddle for Dementia’ walk with the children during the summer holidays to help raise awareness of this cruel disease, and hopefully raise some money towards the Alzheimer’s Society at the same time.
“My colleague Amanda and I are also doing a 6km Memory Walk in Peterborough on 24th September to raise further donations, and to help do our bit towards helping in the fight against dementia.”
Joe Ballard, activities coordinator at Home Meadow added: “We are delighted to be hosting the ‘Toddle for Dementia Walk’ with our Little Owls children and are hopeful that we will be joined by many more children, as well as friends, family members, neighbours and also fellow childminders from around the area too! We would love to see as many toddlers and children join in on the day.”
The walk will start from Home Meadow's gardens – the address is Comberton Road, Toft, CB23 2RY. It is recommended to arrive for 10:15am and the walk will then commence from 10:30am.
Natalie Jackson has set-up a JustGiving donation page for those interested in donating:
