Air ambulances can now use a helipad at Addenbrooke's in Cambridge 24/7.

East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA), Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) and Magpas Air Ambulance all use a helipad at the hospital's Major Trauma Centre.

A planning application to extend the permitted hours of use from 7am-9pm to 24/7 was approved by Cambridge City Council and came into force in late May 2024.

The charities have welcomed the move and said it will ensure patients are transported quickly to emergency care facilities.
