Following his appearance as the dastardly King Rat in Cambridge Arts Theatre’s 2016 pantomime Dick Whittington, Paul Nicholas (The Real Marigold Hotel, Just Good Friends, EastEnders) returns to Cambridge.
Nicholas will be joined alongside Wendi Peters (Coronation Street, Oh What A Lovely War!), Sue Holderness (Only Fools and Horses, The Green Green Grass) and Jeff Rawle (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Drop The Dead Donkey) in a brand-new production of the bitter-sweet comedy Quartet.
‘An unashamed - no, shameless - vehicle for four feisty old troupers to make us laugh, sigh and cry as they take us into the world of facing up to age and mortality.’ - The Independent
Quartet is the charming tale of four ageing opera singers. Cecily, Reggie and Wilfred reside in a magnificent retirement home in Kent, where the rumour circling the halls is that the home is soon to play host to a new resident. Word is, it's a star. Jean arrives and old rivalries resurface, secrets are revealed and chaos unfolds, but in true theatrical tradition - the show must go on! Quartet is a celebration of the twilight years and the hilarity of growing old disgracefully!
‘Ronald Harwood's play is laugh out loud funny, with moments that bring a lump to the throat’ - Daily Telegraph
Oscar winning writer Sir Ronald Harwood has been nominated for several Tony and Olivier awards in a long and distinguished career. His play, The Dresser, recently completed a sold-out West End run.
Quartet is presented by Mark Goucher and David Ian, the creative team behind Jeeves & Wooster, The Miser, The Dresser and the smash-hit musical The Bodyguard.
