"Brilliant dad" who died in A428 crash named

Police have named the man who died following a crash on the A428 at Eltisley.

64-year-old Ian Burgess, from Blunham in Bedfordshire, died after the car he was driving on the A428 was involved in a collision with an HGV and a camper van on Monday 12 August 2024.

Emergency services attended and Ian was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where he died on the morning of 13 August 2024.

The driver of the HGV, a 53-year-old man from Doncaster, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Ian's family have made this statement:

"Our loving husband and soul mate to Paula, brilliant dad to Lana, Jack and Rhona and amazing papa to Isla, Autumn, Oscar and May.

"We are a heartbroken broken family to lose him, and our lives won't be as good without him."
