High street struggles in Haverhill have prompted calls for swift action
Councillor Joe Mason, who represents Haverhill, said large supermarkets were killing footfall in the town centre and taking customers away from the high street.
He called for a "real" and "urgent" to save local traders, with proposals that included slashing car park fees and using vacant council-owned properties as pop-up markets.
Indy Wijenayaka, from West Suffolk Council, says the authority is doing everything it can with the resources it has.
