Cambridge BID brings Wimbledon to station quarter on giant outdoor screen

Office workers and residents in the station quarter are invited to enjoy an al fresco lunch while watching Wimbledon on a giant screen, delivered by Cambridge BID.

Entitled ‘Strawberries & Screen’, this is one of a number of community-spirited events being hosted by the organisation in Cambridge this summer.

BBC coverage of the tournament, including early evening highlights, will be shown from Monday 2nd to Sunday 15th July on a large LED screen next to The Tamburlaine hotel.  Seating for 100 viewers will be provided for free, on a first-come, first-served basis.

foodPark will be supporting the event with a food truck every Monday to Thursday lunchtime, with the regular foodPark available as usual on Fridays.

“We’ve recently extended the BID area to include the station quarter, so we’re delighted to put on this event to help establish a sense of community in what is a relatively new part of the city,” comments Becky Burrell, Marketing & Commercial Manager at Cambridge BID.

“Wimbledon offers a fantastic excuse to take a proper lunch break, clear your head and enjoy the sunshine,” she continues.  “And even if you’re too busy to step away from your desk over lunch, there’s still opportunity to treat yourself to some early evening tennis before heading home.”
