A suspicious package found in Cambridge last night has been destroyed by bomb disposal officers.
A police cordon was set up at King's Parade around 19:45 last night to reports of a suspicious package.
Businesses were evacuated.
Two controlled explosions were then carried out sometime later by bomb disposal units just before 10pm.
Police say the package, which was an abandoned suitcase had most likely been left accidentally by a member of the public
The incident comes in the wake of heightened security following the recent atrocities in London and Manchester.
Police have told us there will be a larger police presence on the streets of Cambridge as from yesterday.
