A drug dealer found with a shotgun in his Cambridge home has been jailed for six years.

Cambridgeshire Police searched Connor Sweeney’s home on Staffordshire Street on 22 April 2024, suspecting he was dealing drugs.

While searching the 20-year-old’s home, officers found a shotgun and 15 shells, as well as cocaine, cannabis, nitrous oxide cannisters, mobile phones, cash and a wooden truncheon.

At Cambridge Crown Court on Friday 15 November 2024, Sweeney was sentenced to six years in a young offender’s institute.

Detective Constable Samuel Andrews, Cambridgeshire Police:

"Tackling serious street-based violence, drugs and ridding Cambridgeshire’s streets of weapons like this is a priority for the force.

"Weapons and crime often go hand in hand and the sentence given to Sweeney shows just how seriously the court takes these incidents."
