It’s understood most of the funding will go towards improving the Guildhall.
Cambridge City Council wants to set aside £20-million to fund a "major regeneration" of the "civic quarter", to make it a more attractive destination for people to visit.
This includes the Market Square, the Guildhall, and the Corn Exchange.
However, it was confirmed on Monday January 29 2024 that most of the money be spent on the Guildhall, and that there is still no specific funding for the Market Square work.
A paper setting out more details will be published in November.
