An Addenbrooke's nurse who stole £100,000 from vulnerable patients has been jailed.

Kelvin Ramasta stole credit cards, cheques and used bank details to transfer money while working at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

Among his victims, between 2021 and 2022, were Alzheimer's patients in their 70s and 80s.

Police were first alerted to the 30-year-old nurse when daily payments of £1,000 were arriving in a recently opened bank account.

Appearing in court on Wednesday 24 April 2024, Ramasta was sentenced to four years and six months in prison.

DC Mark Andrews, Cambridgeshire Police:

"Ramasta targeted elderly and vulnerable patients in his care and abused his position of trust as a nurse.

"To steal money in this way is nothing short of horrific.

"The impact his actions have had on his victims and their families cannot be underestimated."
