THE biggest national community event since the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is set to take place in Cambridge on the weekend of 17-18 June.
The Great Get-Together, which is being supported by Cambridge City Council, will see a series of sociable, community-based events taking place across the city in memory of Jo Cox MP, a year on from her tragic murder.
Cambridge residents are being urged to organise their own events for The Great Get-Together, a new national event organised by the Jo Cox Foundation set up in her memory, which is encouraging people to get together with neighbours for a celebration of what people have in common.
Events forming part of The Great Get-Together can be small or large, from coffee mornings, bake-offs and barbecues to fetes, sporting events and street parties.
Residents holding events can have them listed on the council website by emailing details to enquiries@cambridge.gov.uk or phoning 01223 457000.
Further ideas, resources to help residents plan an event, and additional information, are available from the website www.greatgettogether.org or from www.cambridge.gov.uk/the-great-get-together.
