Autumn road resurfacing scheme in Cambridgeshire has been completed, with dozens of roads upgraded and maintained in time for winter.
As part of the Micro Asphalt Surface Treatment Programme, which began in September this year, roads across 58 sites have been maintained.
Micro Asphalt is a thin pre-mixed material which is laid over the road surface to prevent damage, improve safety and increase the lifespan of the roads.
More than half a million pounds has been invested into the project, which was completed on Thursday, 4 November.
Some roads were required to close as part of the work but, where possible, signed diversion routes and advanced warning signs were in place. Local residents affected by the schemes were also informed ahead of the project.
Councillor Peter McDonald, Chair of the Highways and Transport Committee, said: “This large-scale project is vital to ensure the roads in our county are safe for its users all year round. It’s particularly important in the run up to winter, and I am pleased to see that so many roads across Cambridgeshire have been maintained as part of this scheme.”
