Candidates announced for Romsey by-election

Polling stations will open on Thursday 12 September.

Four candidates have put themselves forward to be Romsey's next city councillor.

Voting will take place on Thursday 12 September.

The by-election was called after the former councillor Mairéad Healy resigned.

The candidates standing are:

  • Beth Gardiner-Smith, Labour Party
  • Zak Karimjee, Green Party
  • Rob Nelson, Conservative Party
  • John Walmsley, Liberal Democrat

Those living in the Romsey ward will be able to cast their vote between 7am and 10pm on the day of the by-election.

Cambridge City Councill has advised that people who would normally vote at Romsey Mill will instead be voting at Mill Road Baptist Church, as the usual location isn't available.

Anyone wishing to vote through the post will need to apply to do so before 5pm on Wednesday 28 August.

People casting their vote in person will need to show an accepted form of photo ID to polling station staff before they will be issued with their ballot paper.

Anyone who does not have one of the accepted forms of ID can apply for a voter authority certificate, but must do so before 5pm on 4 September, in order to receive it in time to vote in the by-election.
