A man from Wicken has been jailed for 8 months after pleading guilty to production of cannabis.
Police from the East Cambridgeshire Neighbourhood Team carried out a warrant on North Street, Wicken on Wednesday 6 September 2023 and found 120 plants with a street value of £80,000.
Albert Dakaj was inside the property and attempted to escape through the back door.
The 28-year-old, of no fixed address, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday 5 October 2023, where he was jailed for eight months after previously pleading guilty to production of cannabis.
PC Joe Dockerill, from the East Cambridgeshire Neighbourhood Team:
“This sentence underscores our commitment to tackling drug-related crime in our community, reinforcing the message that illegal drug cultivation will not be tolerated in Cambridgeshire.
“We implore our residents to remain vigilant for signs of illegal cannabis factories, such as blacked-out windows, unusual smells, and frequent visitors at irregular hours.
Should anyone encounter these signs, they should report it to us immediately.”
