At 10am on Wednesday (8) crews were called to reports of a chemical spillage on the A14 near St Ives.
More than 20 firefighters, including crews from Cambridge, St Neots, Huntingdon and Papworth, along with the water carrier from Ramsey and a hazardous materials unit attended the incident.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a specialist kit provided by the Environment Agency to cover the drainage in the immediate area to ensure there was no contamination of water.
The crews took a sample of the chemical and tested it at the scene and found it to be non-hazardous.
The A14 was closed westbound during the incident as a precaution while the incident was ongoing.
The crews returned to their stations by 12.20pm.
