At 9.38am on Monday (19) crews were called to an incident on Moorfield Road in Duxford.
Crews from Cambridge, Cottenham, Burwell, St Neots and Huntingdon attended the scene.
Firefighters arrived to find a chemical spillage at an industrial premises. The chemical, which is used in the manufacturing of products that are used for water-proofing of roofs, was reacting to the high weather temperature so presented a potentially significant hazard.
The drainage from the site was contained to ensure the chemical didn’t spread into the water supply, with the spillage controlled using dry sand.
The crews liaised with Public Health England and the Environment Agency to ensure the incident was brought to a safe and effective conclusion.
The crews returned to their stations by 1pm.
