Community Hub Set To Send A Lifeline To Vulnerable Ely Residents

A community hub is set to provide a safe space for people in Ely to access advice on a host of issues.

The drop in clinic at the Lighthouse Centre will offer hot food, tea and coffee and a wealth of information for people including managing debt, alcohol and drug dependency, mental health issues, any housing related concerns and any other support needs.

Representatives from East Cambridgeshire District Council’s housing team, Citizens Advice Bureau, Red 2 Green, Inclusion,Christians Against Poverty, CHS Floating Support and Centre 33 will offer advice on benefit claims, mental health, domestic violence and hate crime.

The project was officially launched yesterday by East Cambridgeshire District Council in partnership with the Lighthouse Centre.

Councillor Mike Rouse, housing service delivery champion, said: “This group was created because many of the problems people face are not simple, straight-forward or singular.

“This community hub aims to bring partner agencies together to work cohesively to address these problems in a more unified way.

“It also provides a safe space for the community to access information and have a chat with a friendly face over a cup of tea.”

The program will operate under the Luv Ely Charity.
