Crews from Huntingdon and Papworth were called to the marina to help rescue a dog that had fallen into the water.
Firefighters specialised in water rescues wore water kit to enter the water and rescue the family dog who had fallen under the boards of the house and become stuck. The dog’s owner had attempted to rescue the dog before calling the fire service.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We know that people love animals and would risk their own lives to save a family pet or other animal in distress if we didn’t attend but our advice would always be to stay out of the water because of the hidden dangers in open water and to contact the RSPCA in the first instance.
