
A drink driver has been jailed after a serious head-on crash in Wilburton last year.
Kestutis Korzeniauskas, 52, was driving a black Vauxhall Insignia along Twenty Pence Road, towards Wilburton, when he struck a black Vauxhall Corsa heading in the opposite direction at about 8am on Monday 5 June 2023.
The driver of the Corsa, a 23-year-old woman, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, with serious injuries.
She recovered and was discharged, but now suffers from lasting injuries.
A breath test showed Korzeniauskas was more than three times the legal limit, and a further blood sample contained 177 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood - the limit is 80.
On Friday 11 October 2024, at Peterborough Crown Court, Korzeniauskas, of Heathcote Close in March, was jailed for nine months, having pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by careless/inconsiderate driving, drink driving and driving without a licence.
Korzeniauskas was also banned from driving for three years and four months.
He was also convicted of drink driving and driving with no licence in 2017.
