Drug dealer led police on high-speed pursuit

A drug dealer who led police on a pursuit, reaching speeds double the road limit, has been jailed.

Michael Ledlie, 26, was seen by officers driving a blue Kia Rio linked to drug dealing in Ermine Street, Huntingdon, at about 12.15pm, on 11 July, but he accelerated away.

The officers followed in their car as he continued along Ermine Street, through Great Stukeley, driving at 80mph in a 40mph speed limit, overtaking across solid white lines and into Little Stukeley, before he lost control at the Alconbury Weald roundabout and crashed into a hedge.

Ledlie was arrested at the scene and a search of him uncovered six packages of crack cocaine worth £60.

Inside the car, officers found £300 in cash and cannabis worth about £30, with a search of Ledlie’s home uncovering phone numbers written on a piece of paper, crack cocaine worth £1,600 in a bowl and a set of digital scales.

Ledlie, of Almond Road, Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, was jailed for four years at Peterborough Crown Court, having pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, possession with intent to supply cannabis, dangerous driving, driving with no licence and driving with no insurance.

DC Andrea Farnes said: “Drugs destroy lives so I am delighted we have taken one less dealer off our streets.

“Not only that, Ledlie put people in danger by his driving so I hope he reflects on everything he has done in prison.”
