Climate change protestors are descending on the city centre this weekend as they appeal to councillors to "get a grip on traffic, congestion and air pollution".
The action on Saturday, timed to coincide with the Cambridge Big Weekend on Parker's Piece, will see protestors blocking roads and stopping access to the Grand Arcade car park. will block roads and prevent access to the Grand Arcade car park on Saturday (July 6).
The roadblocks are expected to cause significant disruption across the city centre from 7.30am until 5.30pm.
Councils and and Cambridgeshire Constabulary are strongly advising people to travel by public transport, including Park & Ride, to avoid the disruption.
Stagecoach Buses are operating diverted services throughout the day. During this time the following diversions and stop closures are in place:
Newmarket Road Park & Ride
Buses will be unable to serve the Grafton Centre and Drummer Street bus stops.
Passengers are advised to board on Maids Causeway, Fair Street and Newmarket Road, Napier Street.
Milton Park & Ride
Buses will be unable to serve Drummer Street D1 and the Grafton Centre bus stops.
Passengers are advised to board at Newmarket Road, Napier Street.
Babraham Road Park & Ride
Buses will be unable to serve Emmanuel Street E5.
Passengers are advised to board at Drummer Street D2.
Trumpington Park & Ride
Buses will be unable to serve The Leys School, Trumpington Street and Downing Street.
Passengers are advised to board at the Catholic Church on Lensfield Road.
Busway - Route A
Buses will be unable to serve Emmanuel Road and Regent Street stops.
