Firefighters have attended a blaze at a Grade II listed restaurant building that is likely to leave a Cambridgeshire road closed for some time.
Crews were called to the Indian Garden Restaurant, formerly the Crown pub, in Fordham in the early hours of Monday morning.
Located on Church Street in the village, fire spread through the building rapidly, with windows bursting open as the flames took hold.
Kieran King who lives in the village, alerted the emergency services when he spotted the fire from his driveway.
While he was confident everybody had got out the building safely, he said it was the worst fire he had seen.
He added emergency services arrived within 10 minutes of him raising the alarm and "got it under control pretty quickly".
Firefighters attended from Cambridge, Cottenham, Burwell and Sawston, along with assistance from Suffolk fire and Rescue Service.
