Work will get back underway on major project to upgrade walking, cycling and public transport journeys along Histon Road in Cambridge.
Work will restart on the Greater Cambridge Partnership’s Histon Road project on Monday, May 11th under the government’s social distancing guidelines.
When the entire scheme is complete, a new bus lane and significantly improved walking and cycleways will make it quicker and easier for people to travel into the city from the A14 - helping to cut congestion and improve air quality.
Contractors will pick up its work on Phase A at the junction of Histon Road/Victoria Road/Huntingdon Road on Monday, where a new road layout and enhanced walking and cycleways will be delivered. This phase is expected to finish in August.
Work will then move on to Phases B and D, which will require the temporary closure of Histon Road to all inbound traffic for up to a year.
A diversion via the A14, Milton Road and Victoria Road will be in place throughout the construction phase. Cyclists and pedestrians will still be able to use Histon Road in both directions.
