A crew from Cambridge was called to a dishwasher fire in Shelford Road.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and returned to their o by 8.19pm.

Cause of the fire was accidental.

A spokesperson for CFRS said: “A dishwasher fire is a timely reminder to think about the importance of electrical safety and not overloading sockets or extension leads with appliances. We would also advise all homeowners to register their white goods so that they are kept up to date with any safety messages or recall of goods. Household appliances can be registered by logging onto: www.registermyappliance.org.uk.”
