Hundreds flock to the Northstowe Midsummer Festival

Crowds at the Star Radio performance area.

The first Midsummer Festival has taken place in the new town.

Locals and visitors enjoyed an action packed afternoon of live music on the Star Radio performance area, singing from Hatton Park Primary and Pathfinder schools, community stalls and food trucks.

The event took place on The Green, with workshops and other activities being held in The Cabin, the town's community centre.

Matt Thompson, a Teacher at Hatton Park Primary School who performed, said:

"The children who performed are nine years old, some of them have never performed in front of anyone before. To rehearse in a classroom is very different.

I don't think many of them could picture what today would be like, but they did themselves so proud".

Mari O'Neill, part of the organising team, told Star Radio:

"The sun shone and it truly was a wonderful day of community celebration and togetherness.

We hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did, and would love to hear feedback so we can make future events even better.

Events like the Midsummer Festival work because lots of people help out - if you’d like to get involved, head to the Northstowe Hub website to find out more".

Northstowe is situated in South Cambridgeshire and will boast over 24,000 residents and 10,000 homes when completed.
