A mum living with a brain tumour will run the London Marathon.
Aimi Battershall, from Huntingdon, is taking part in the iconic race to raise funds for the Brain Tumour Charity.
The 38-year-old travel agent was diagnosed with a low-grade glioma in 2018 while pregnant with her second child.
Aimi told Star Radio her story:
Doctors at Addenbrooke's hospital found Aimi’s tumour was calcified, meaning it may have been there since birth.
Because of its location, surgery is not an option and instead Aimi has regular scans to monitor it.
Aimi has said living with the tumour can cause its own problems.
She had to take epileptic medication after suffering seizures on her return to work after maternity leave.
Aimi is taking on the 26 mile race for the Brain Tumour Charity.
The Brain Tumour Charity is the UK’s largest dedicated brain tumour charity.
It funds pioneering research and awareness and provides support for everyone affected by brain tumours.
We asked Aimi if she is enjoying the training regime:
Aimi will join thousands of other runners for the London Marathon on Sunday 21 April 2024.
She is hoping to raise £2700 and a donation point can be found here.
