A MAN from Peterborough who threatened a woman with a knife in an attempted burglary has been jailed for eight years.
Alexander Keltie, 29, called at a property in Lincoln Road on May 2. When a woman in her 60s answered the door, Keltie forced his way into the property and threatened her with a knife.
The woman fought back, scratched Keltie across the face and managed to leave the property to raise the alarm. Keltie fled the scene empty handed.
Scenes of crime officers attended the property and forensic evidence led to Keltie being arrested. He was later charged with aggravated burglary.
On Friday (July 28) Keltie was sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court, having pleaded guilty at a previous hearing.
Detective Constable Leigh Mann said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim, who bravely fought back against her attacker and in doing so secured forensic evidence. I hope the sentence handed to Keltie will help her to put the experience behind her.”
