Jail For Drug Dealer Who Drove At Officer

A drug dealer caught in his car with a crack pipe on his lap in McDonalds at Caxton Gibbett has been jailed.

Gordon Law, 41, was spotted by police officers at just after midnight on 18 May 2021 parked in a black Toyota Aygo.

One of the officers approached the car, which had its lights on and engine running, and saw the pipe, along with some residue, on Law’s lap.

Law was very drowsy and upon realising it was the police, he knocked a yellow Kinder Egg container onto the floor, which was found to contain class A drugs.

A search of the car uncovered £250 in cash, further crack pipes, burnt foil and a Samsung smartphone, which contained evidence of drug dealing.

Cocaine, with an estimated street value of between £240 and £600, and £50 to £60-worth of heroin, was also found in the car.

While on police bail, Law came to officers’ attention again on 11 March last year in Huntingdon when they noticed him pick up a woman in the same black Toyota Aygo in Coxon’s Close.

The woman left the car quickly and began to walk away so the officers indicated for Law to stop.

As an officer went to speak to Law, he reversed away at speed but was blocked by a second police car.

Law drove at the officer and another police car was used to prevent him from running the officer over.

He escaped by mounting the kerb and driving at high speed into American Lane before abandoning the car in Buttsgrove Way and running off. After a foot chase, Law was arrested in Pembroke Road.

On 30 April last year, while still on police bail, Law was stopped by an officer in Brampton Road, Huntingdon, while driving the black Toyota Aygo at about 11pm.

Enquiries found Law had an expired licence, was disqualified and had no insurance.

On Thursday (4 May), at Peterborough Crown Court, Law, of Ouse Road, St Ives, was jailed for two years and five months, having pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, two counts of driving with no insurance, two counts of driving a car otherwise than in accordance with a licence, dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified.

He was also disqualified from driving for two years and three months.

DC Jodie Bolton said: “Law is a repeat offender who dealt harmful drugs in the county as well as committing numerous driving offences.

“His offending had a significant impact on the community.

“Drugs cause immense harm to everyone who comes into contact with them so I’m pleased justice has been served in this case."
