Lavish lifestyle ends for pair of drug dealers

A pair of drug dealers who led a lavish lifestyle with designer clothes, shoes, jewellery and flash cars, have been sentenced.

Kyle Coppola, 27, of Church Close, Abington, was first stopped in November 2020 driving a Mercedes in Cambridge. He attempted to run from police but was stopped and a mobile phone, £480 and cannabis from his pants seized.

In the vehicle police found more than £1k in cash and another mobile phone linking him to drug dealing alongside Harry Crosby.

At Coppola’s home police found expensive trainers and jewellery and an image on his phone of him posing with thousands of pounds in cash.

Police searched 24-year-old Crosby’s home in Minerva Way, Cambridge the following month (December 2020) with mobile phones and cocaine seized.

The pair were stopped again in January 2021 in London which lead to further searches of their addresses and more than £2k in cash and expensive clothing seized.

Crosby was stopped again in February 2021 which cocaine found in his bedroom and further messages confirming he was still dealing.

At Cambridge Crown Court on Monday (7 August) Coppola was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison after previously pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of drugs, possession of criminal property, escaping from lawful custody and failing to comply with a section 49 RIPA notice.

Crosby was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years, after previously pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, possession of criminal property, two counts of possession of cocaine and failing to comply with a section 49 RIPA notice.

PC Alex Rendell, who investigated, said: “Coppola and Crosby were living a lifestyle their declared earnings suggested was not possible. That combined with the cash, drugs and messages discovered on mobile phones evidenced they were both dealing cocaine across Cambridge for a substantial period of time.

“Drug dealing is not a glamorous lifestyle and could land you a lengthy prison sentence.”
