A man who burgled a home and stole a handbag from an elderly woman has been jailed for 27 months.
Daniel Simms, 42, of Haggis Gap, Fulbourn, burgled a home in Fulbourn in November and stole items including a handbag containing bank cards. Two days later he stole a handbag containing bank cards from an elderly woman at a supermarket in Cambridge.
He used the stolen bank cards to buy items in shops around Cambridge. Simms was sentenced at Huntingdon Crown Court on May 22 after pleading guilty to the offences of handling stolen goods, theft and fraud.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Gaunt-Warner said: “Simms is a cowardly man who has a history of preying on the elderly and the vulnerable for many years, these latest crimes show that he has not changed and continues to attack the most vulnerable in our society."
