New Chief Executive announced for South Cambridgeshire District Council

Beverly Agass has been announced as the new Chief Executive for South Cambridgeshire District Council.

Mrs Agass is the current Chief Executive at South Kesteven District Council in Lincolnshire and has a wealth of experience in the public and private sectors.

She is a linguistics graduate and Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development fellow with a background in organisational design and performance improvement. Beverly worked for the John Lewis Partnership early in her career before joining local government.

Prior to taking up the role of Chief Executive at South Kesteven District Council in 2009, she held a number of local government senior management roles in Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire.

Leading on the strategic vision for the authority, Mrs Agass initiated key programmes to ensure the Council makes the most of opportunities to be inventive, flexible and responsive to local needs.

She also has significant experience of working with councillors and communities developing ambitious growth programmes – enabling new homes and creating new business opportunities by proactively and positively planning for future growth and regeneration.

Mrs Agass’ appointment has been recommended by a cross-party recruitment panel and will be formally agreed at a full Council meeting on Thursday 13 April. She expects to join South Cambridgeshire District Council in the summer.

Cllr Pippa Corney, Chairman of the Employment Panel at South Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “Beverly really impressed the whole of the employment panel and will do a brilliant job for our communities. As well as having a proven track record at the most senior level in local government, she also has an excellent range of private sector experience. Local government has changed considerably over the last decade as the money we get from central government to deliver services has been cut considerably. To continue to provide high quality services we have already become far more commercial in our approach and are generating our own income. Beverly’s skills and knowledge will help us continue this journey to becoming self-sufficient from government grants. We are really looking forward to her joining us.”
