It's been a few years in the making, but a dynamic new shopping village near Ely is now open.
The stunning Ben's Yard is located on the Stuntney Estate, and celebrates the Best of British whilst also championing local businesses.
It is the brainchild of Alastair and Victoria Morbey, who describe the venture as their fifth child. Alastair's day job is to run the 2,500 acre estate and farm, whilst also striving to conserve the landscape. A recent project was to rewild part of the farm for both wildlife and the local community to enjoy.
Shoppers will find everything from a florist, a butcher, a hairdresser, a cycle shop, a gift store and so much more - but it's outside where Ben's Yard really makes its mark.
The Estate is a former island in the floodplains of the Fens, so don't be surprised if you run into the odd Buzzard, Lapwing or even Roe Deer! There are five kilometres of marked trails to explore and their two kilometre loop on hardcore has been designed with wheelchairs, bikes and buggies in mind, to ensure no one misses out on the fun. (Top tip - bring a scooter!)
Once the shopping's done, children will delight in the new adventure play park, themed on nearby Ely Cathedral!
And, if all that shopping and exploring takes it out of you, there's a choice of either the cafe or the stunning botanical themed restaurant.
Speaking to Star Radio, Alastair and Victoria said
Making the business current and relevant in the 21st-century, but still embodying the generosity of community spirit and sense of place, has been at the heart of their decision to create this rural retail village
Ben's Yard is located on the A142 between Soham and Ely, and is open Monday to Saturday from 7-7 and on Sunday from 8-5.
