Stephen Foot was sentenced at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to bike theft, common assault, criminal damage, possession of a knife, attempted shop theft and 12 counts of shop theft.
The 25-year-old, of no fixed address, stole a Nihola cargo bike worth £2,200 from Luard Road in Cambridge on 9 February and attempted to sell it on for just £50 when he was arrested by police.
Between 19 January and 28 February he carried out the shop thefts, stealing perfume, meat, coffee, computer game equipment and washing powder worth more than £1,400 from John Lewis, Co-Op, The Perfume Shop, Levi’s, Game and BP Garage.
PC Rob Tindall said: “Foot is a opportunist thief who has caused misery to many businesses and individuals with his prolific offending. Cambridge city is a safer place while he is in prison and we hope he uses this time to turn his life around.”
