A man who was found carrying a knife by officers out on patrol has been jailed for one year.
Luca Miah, 22, was spotted by officers acting suspiciously in Cambridge in August last year.
He ran off but the neighbourhood officers managed to catch him after a short foot chase.
Once detained he confessed to having a knife, which the officers seized.
Miah, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article and was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday (10 February).
Detective Constable Molly Halksworth, who investigated, said: “Tackling knife crime is a priority area for the force and I’m glad we’ve been able to take another dangerous weapon off our streets.”
