Officers link fifth incident to recent burglaries

Officers investigating a series of business burglaries have issued CCTV images of a fifth linked incident.

On Monday (31 July) at just before midnight, two men used a metal object to break into the Co-op, in High Steet, Melbourn, while a third man waited outside.

They forced open a cash drawer but found nothing and made off empty handed.

One man was wearing black clothing, a face mask, and blue gloves. The second man was also dressed in dark clothes, but with white socks.

It is not known what vehicle they used, however, the break-in is being linked to four other burglaries involving a white Ford Focus ST.

On 31 July, at about 3.30am, three men set fire to a gas cannister at a garage in Wisbech Road, Littleport, in an attempt to remove an ATM from the wall.

And on 29 July, four men with crowbars were disturbed attempting to enter a Spar, in High Street, Sawston. The men made off empty handed in the Focus.

Shortly before 1am, the Co-op, in North Street, Burwell, was targeted. A window was smashed and items stolen.

A few minutes later the Co-op, in West Street, Isleham, was broken into, again, with a window smashed and items taken.

Anyone who has any information, saw a white Ford Focus ST in the area or witnessed any suspicious behaviour, is urged to contact police quoting 35/57228/23.This can be done via web chat service or online.
