Two men caught dealing drugs in a Cambridge pub have been jailed.
Staff at a pub in Regent Street called police in June 2019 to report two men they suspected were dealing class A drugs inside.
Erick Walusimba and Robbie Allen attempted to make off from police in their vehicle but were blocked in by the patrol car.
Following a search officers found Walusimba had more than £979 in cash and Allen £225 in cash and a mobile phone. Drug paraphernalia including scales, cling film and drug residue was found in a rucksack alongside Walusimba’s bank card as well a further three mobile phones in the vehicle.
During a search at the station Allen went on to produce six wraps of cocaine from within his underpants.
At Cambridge Crown Court Allen, 24, of Latchingdon Gardens, Woodford Green, London, was sentenced to two years and four months after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs. Walusimba, 21, of St Matthew’s Gardens, Cambridge was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine.
Detective Constable Ash Bryce, who investigated, said: “Thanks to the information received from the pub, we were able to apprehend these two men and prevent them from carrying out any further illegal drug deals.
“Drugs and dealing bring misery, despair and violence to our communities and we will continue to do all we can to put those responsible before the courts.”
