Police Commissioner launches four year plan for Constabulary

Police and Crime Commissioner, Jason Ablewhite has today (29th March) launched his new Police and Crime Plan, outlining his priorities for Cambridgeshire Constabulary over the next four years.

Centred around four key themes of victims, offenders, communities and transformation, the Plan sets out police and crime objectives, which will complement the priorities of the county’s local authorities, for example, health, probation and fire and rescue.

Since his election in May 2016, the Commissioner has spent time consulting with members of the public, senior officers of Cambridgeshire Constabulary, stakeholder and partner organisations to ensure the Plan meets to needs of communities living, working and visiting Cambridgeshire.

Police and Crime Commissioner, Jason Ablewhite said:

“Cambridgeshire is one of the fastest growing counties in the country, both in terms of its economy and its population. The nature of crime and the growing threat of terrorism already requires our police force to be flexible and forward thinking. Which all means we need to have a force capable of responding to increased demand, in a time where savings still need to be made.

“It is my job to make sure the Constabulary continues to meet the needs of our many and diverse communities. That’s why my Police and Crime Plan puts people at the heart of it, focussing on the most vulnerable members of society and bringing offenders to justice.

“We must embrace all the new opportunities available to us and continually seek out new ways of delivering our services. It is only by working together that we can keep Cambridgeshire safe.”

Chief Constable Alec Wood added:

“Our focus remains on keeping the most vulnerable people in our communities safe from harm, attacking criminality and providing the people of Cambridgeshire with the best service possible.

“Work continues to understand and manage our demand through working with our partners, across our collaborated services and through innovative use of technology. At the core of this work is our determination to become more efficient and effective while providing value for money to the public.”
