Two burglars have been jailed following a spate of break-ins in villages near Cambridge.
Kyle Milner, 20, and Laimonas Zebrauskas, 21, broke into three properties in Burwell and Little Wilbraham in two hours on 23 March.
They used rocks and garden ornaments – including an ornamental frog and a bird bath - to smash their way in through windows while the owners were out.
They stole cash and jewellery worth more than £5,000.
The duo also attempted to burgle two further houses on the same day. They failed but caused substantial damage.
The pair pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle and were sentenced at Huntingdon Law Courts on Friday (13 October).
Milner, of no fixed abode, received three years and four months in a young offenders institution, while Zebrauskas, also of no fixed abode, received three years and one month.
Detective Constable Ali Kent from Cambridgeshire Police:
“Milner and Zebrauskas were prolific and ruthless and used anything and everything they could to smash their way into properties.
“They stole thousands of pounds worth of items and left homeowners feeling violated. I am glad justice has been done today.”
