A man has been banned from every Co-Op in Cambridge after several thefts.

Liam Basham, 30, of no fixed address, was handed a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 10 October 2024 banning him from every Co-Op.

He is also banned from Sainsbury’s and the BP Garage in Teversham Road.

He was given a 12-week prison sentence on 20 September, suspended for a year.

Sergeant Dan Scott, Cambridgeshire Police:

"Basham has been causing misery to shops across the city, in particular Co-Op’s, with his persistent offending. We hope this order will provide some respite to the company and others.

"Any breaches of this CBO will be dealt with robustly."

The order follows his latest conviction for shoplifting after he pleaded guilty to 12 counts of shoplifting after he stole items including meats, alcohol and household products from Co-Op’s in Milton Avenue, Perne Road and Hills Road between 25 July and 29 August.

Basham also targeted Tesco in Chesterton and Nisa in Capuchin Court.
