Two crews from Cambridge were called to a road traffic collision after a delivery van was impaled on some scaffolding outside a restaurant in Newnham Road that was being renovated.
Firefighters had to release the van by cutting a corner of the scaffolding which had entered the van high up on one side.
Watch Commander Darren Thompson said: “The scaffolding was impaled high up on the side of the van so there was no danger to the driver but it could have been a lot worse as there was the potential for the scaffolding to have collapsed.”
Scaffolding engineers are at the building today making the structure safe.
