Strike action by some of Huntingdonshire District Council's workers has been suspended.
As reported earlier today, action was due to take place next week with the potential to run until the end of August.
Talks between the council, UNISON and the employee's group of representatives have progressed - with revised pay offers being put in place. These will now be consulted on by all members of staff, including members of UNISON.
The first week of action was to be held by members based at Eastfield House in Huntingdon, where waste services for the district are based. Following that, further industrial action was to be taken by staff based at Pathfinder House in the town where most other council departments are based.
Cllr Martin Hassall, executive councillor for corporate and shared services, said:
“We are pleased that there has been some progress and that strike action has been suspended.
“We very much hope an agreement can be reached.
"It is in everyone’s interests for this to be resolved without industrial action. The new pay offers that we have put forward meet our commitments to rewarding staff where we can, avoiding redundancies and cuts to services and maintaining the financial sustainability of the council.
Residents are urged to put out bins as they usually would.
Industrial action planned for next week has been suspended. Waste and recycling, and green bin collections will carry on as normal. Check out our website for more updates:https://t.co/ngSJK64sDl pic.twitter.com/9J0g4WbQu7
