They've teamed up with songwriter and Cambridgeshire ex-head teacher Keith Archer to create a new song for Christmas.
Dad’s Song is about the importance of special people in our lives. The lyrics have a nostalgic feel complete with a bit of Christmas sparkle and a choral performance at its heart featuring the children from Key Stage 2.
Teversham head teacher, Louisa Kenzie said, “It was a great learning experience for the children, who realised they had to do quite a few takes before getting the perfect performance. I’m hoping they remember this when it comes to their maths and spelling!”
The song will help to raise money for local Cambridge based charities, such as Jimmy’s and Street Aid, working with homeless and vulnerably housed people.
“One of the other important themes of the song is shelter and protection, especially during the cold winter months, so it seemed natural to use it as a way to help others,” says the song’s composer, Keith Archer.
The ex-headteacher has been writing songs for the last 5 years under the name ‘Striipe' and describes his style as eclectic. “It’s great to work with different artists, and to experiment with different styles of music,” he adds. “Working with the children was another new venture, but it seems to have paid off handsomely.”
