Nearly 4,000 homes were affected by an unplanned power outage in Cambridge on Monday.

UK Power Networks have said the power cut was caused by an "unexpected underground cable fault" and have apologised for any disruption.

They said it initially affected 3,978 properties in total across postcode areas in CB1 and CB5, including in Barnwell and Fen Ditton.

Star understands power was restored to many of the homes by lunchtime.
