A CAMBRIDGE drug dealer has been jailed for three years.
Marcus Matelot, 30, of Woburn Close, Cambridge, was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday (July 21). He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs at a previous hearing.
Officers searched Matelot in February in Howard Road while attending the address for other enquiries.
He ran from officers but was followed and arrested following a struggle during which Matelot tried to hide wraps of cocaine in his body.
Matelot was found in possession of 17.13 grams of cocaine worth around £1,700 and 1.4 grams of cannabis worth £20.
Sergeant Paul Street said: “We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to drugs and our priority is to remove dealers like Matelot from the streets of Cambridge.
“Matelot’s sentence clearly demonstrates how seriously the courts take drug related offences.”
The sentencing follows two previous good court results where two other drug dealers were jailed.
On Thursday, July 6, Megan Thornton, 51, of Ditton Lane, Fen Ditton, was jailed for seven years after being sentenced to seven years each for two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, to run concurrently.
She was found in possession of 2.37 grams of cocaine and 0.87 grams of heroin worth approximately £320 and £405 in cash.
On Monday, July 3, Marcus Kazeem, 30, of Hazelwood Close, Cambridge, was sentenced to a total of five years imprisonment, four for possession with intent to supply class A drugs and one year for benefit fraud to run consecutively.
He was found in possession of 1.7 grams of cocaine worth approximately £90.
