A £100 million children's hospital is to be built in Cambridge, the first of its kind in the East of England.
According to Health Secretary Matt Hancock, the new hospital will use state of the art technology to give the "very best treatment" to sick children.
The hospital will combine physical and mental health services alongside university research and will be funded by selling surplus NHS land.
The new hospital is set to be built on the Addenbrookes Hospital site.
Cambridgeshire County Council leader Steve Count welcomed the announcement, saying “This is fantastic news for the people of Cambridgeshire and the wider area, particularly the news at Addenbrooke’s regarding the children’s hospital.
"It couldn’t have come to a better place because of the expertise there.”
