Volunteers needed in Cambridgeshire to support people with hearing loss

National charity Action on Hearing Loss (formerly RNID) is looking for community minded people to join its volunteer team in Cambridgeshire, to help to raise awareness and provide support to local people living with hearing loss.

With up to 109,500 people living with a form of hearing loss in Cambridgeshire, the charity relies on volunteers to hold information stands at hospitals and libraries, give talks to local community groups and help with a whole range of entertaining and fun fundraising events in their local communities, helping to raise much needed funds for the organisation.

Linda Bridewell, Regional Information Coordinator explained: “Put simply, our volunteers are the life blood of our organisation, helping us in all areas of our work to remove barriers that people with hearing loss face every day. Our volunteers do not only have the chance to make a positive impact on the lives of local people, but also make new friends and enjoy fun and rewarding experiences at the same time.”

Linda continued: “We always aim to match the interests and skills of the volunteers to settings where they feel comfortable, we provide all the training and support they need and we are with them every step of the way so that they feel confident to answer questions about hearing loss in an informed and relaxed setting. Whether it’s just an hour a week or longer, the time frame does not matter when you are contributing to such a great cause.”
